Building Strategy Mastery

Success in strategy requires deep expertise across all phases of the strategy development process as well as the realisation process. The Master Programme transforms participants into strategy masters capable of driving long-term direction and tangible, predictable results. The programme is designed to develop management teams through four independent but complementary courses, each covering one of the four key strategy themes: Aims, Arenas, Affairs, and Actions. They are modular, offering flexibility in timing and content, allowing participants to start at any point to create a complete learning journey tailored to specific needs.

01

Advanced Strategy Competence

Participants move beyond foundational knowledge to gain the expertise needed to critically analyse and design comprehensive strategies across core strategy themes.

02

Applied Learning

Participants engage with complex case studies and real-world exercises, applying the Open Strategising tools directly to their own organisations' challenges.

03

Network and Knowledge Exchange

Participants continually grow their professional network by collaborating with other ambitious managers and executives.

Certification and recognition

Earn your Open Strategising Certified Master Strategy & Change credential. After completing all four courses (Aims, Arenas, Affairs, and Actions), you will receive an official certification from the Open Strategising Academy, at a professional level corresponding to EQF Level 6. The certification demonstrates your competence in applying modern strategy practices and contributes to your professional development and organisational impact across all strategy themes.
The Open Strategising Certified Master Strategy & Change will qualify you to enrol in the Executive MBA Programme, empowering you to further develop your professional career by gaining the practical leadership skills required to facilitate the complete strategy process and drive systemic change.
It also qualifies you to participate in the annual OS Advancement Clinic, where elite practitioners and academics collectively push the boundaries of strategy and change work.

Participant Profiles

This programme is designed for key employees, managers, executives, and members of the management team who are involved in - or contribute to - in the organisation's strategy work. It is equally relevant for employees seeking to influence the strategic direction and successful realisation of their organisation's strategy, as well as the changes necessary to succeed.

What you will learn

The Master Programme provides participants with a deep, nuanced exploration of the complete strategy development and execution cycle. Through a blend of advanced theoretical frameworks, real-world case discussions, and guided hands-on applications directly applied to participants’ own organisation, the programme develops the rigorous knowledge and skills required to design competitive models and manage complex strategic change. The modular courses break down the core levers of business success, transforming participants into strategy masters capable of driving both long-term direction and tangible, predictable results.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be equipped to:

  • Analyse Context and Set Strategic Direction: Participants will learn to critically evaluate macro-environmental factors and industry dynamics to identify necessary organisational change gaps, while defining a clear purpose, core values, and an ambitious long-term roadmap.
  • Design Competitive Core Business Arrangements: Participants will gain the expertise to shape corporate scope, differentiate their business strategy, and construct robust business models and network strategies that maximise value creation and sustain competitive advantage.
  • Master Strategy Execution and Governance: Participants will learn to transform strategic intent into predictable, tangible results by defining clear strategic focus, managing risks, ensuring strategy realisability, and scheduling routines to embed continuous learning and adaptation.

Programme content

The programme is structured around four courses.

  • Aims: Defining Organisational Aspirations and Identity. Set the direction for your organisation and the meaning of existence upon which it is built.
  • Arenas: Understanding Organisational Context and Fit. Master the complex environment of your organisation's context and learn to adapt and utilise its ever-changing dynamics.
  • Affairs: Crafting Strategy Prioritisations. Become a strategy leader shaping the core business arrangements that enable your organisation to compete and thrive.
  • Actions: Driving Focus and Engagement. Turn strategy into tangible and measurable results.

Examination

The certificate requires:

  1. Active participation and 100% attendance. A missed day can be made up at a later course date.
  2. A knowledge test: at least 75% correct answers, with unlimited retakes.
